Intimate Partner Violence is an Epidemic

July 14 - The Simcoe County Violence against Women Coordinating Committee offers our deepest condolences to the children and family of Jen Foster. Jen was the recent victim of a femicide that occurred in the City of Barrie. Women who are living in violence make the difficult decision to remain in that relationship for many reasons including keeping the family together and for children to not experience the separation of their parents. Our agency and committee understands these difficult decisions and we only hope that through the loss of Jen, women who are considering leaving their abusive partner will reach out to the shelters in their community for support and safety planning.
