Community Assembly - Intimate Partner Violence is an Epidemic
SOUND THE ALARM: INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE IS AN EPIDEMIC // JULY 15 AT 5:30PM AT THE MIDLAND PIER
One year ago, Julia Brady was killed by her intimate partner. We remember her. And we recognize her death for what it was: a femicide.
Across this province, women and gender-diverse people continue to face intimate partner violence every day — and in too many cases, it ends in tragedy. Yet the Ontario government still refuses to declare this crisis what it is: an epidemic.
We invite you to join us for a community assembly and collective action to mark the one-year anniversary of Julia Brady’s death, to honour her life, and to call for urgent systemic change.
This event will include:
- Remarks from feminist advocates, survivors, and frontline workers
- A moment of collective reflection
- A public call to action to demand that the provincial government declare IPV an epidemic
- Opportunities to connect, speak, and take action together
We are not gathering in silence. We are gathering in solidarity.
Please join us.
Bring a noisemaker (pot, pan, bell, drum, whistle) as part of our collective action.
